There are two types of "scholarships": (i) taxable, and (ii) non-taxable. If the scholarship is non-taxable, which implies that it requires no work to "earn" it and it is not used for room-and-board and other living expenses, then you may be able to have that even while on H4.

Why would you even consider this at this point. After 8/17, everyone will be U, so who knows when you get to even file if you wait. You want to tack on 6months to your wait (and thats being generous), and them pay more money?

No you are not required to file a separate petition for your husband. When your sister files the I-130, she needs to put your husband's name on the same form.
When you file DS-230, Each family member that is eligible to travel to the United States with you under this visa classification is required to complete the DS-230 Part I. So separate DS-230 are required for you and your husband.

Yes, this is very common. BTW once IO at POE made an error and give I-94 till 3 years when my I-797 was expiring in less than a year. Immediately came back to him and brought to his attention and he corrected it.

Hello,
Could anyone please suggest me a few consulting companies who can sponsor H1B visa? I am trying to bring my friend who is in India working for an automotive OEM. He was in Michigan for a while and he went back to India and it�s been almost more than 7 years since he left but now he wants to come back to Michigan.
If anyone knows any consultants in Michigan would be perfect since I already have a job lined up (verbally) through my contacts but I am not successful finding an employer who can sponsor H1B for him.

I have also read that only when you go out of the country and when you stamp your visa thats when one of the visa goes invalid.
Is this right?

You are already out of status as you are not on L anymore. As of october 01st, your status changed to H-1b and you can only be employed by your H-1b employer.
Talk to a lawyer who knows L stuff (not many do) and straighten things out.

One of my friends applied for his GC thru a consulting company which he does not work for...He used to work for the company but left that company before he decided to file with them...Since he has good relations with the company, they decided to file for him.
The company recently filed his I140 but they got a RFE on I140. INS wants to know why does the company want to hire him and why he left the company in the first place..does anyone in the forum has a similar experience to share...The RFE is actually for the conmpany but the owner wants my friend to write a letter and mail it to the lawyer. Any help is appreciated.

Population of all developed countries is in decline. So they are encouraging young people from other countries to support their economies. Now with so many baby boomers starting to retire, the working population of USA is not just stabilizing as he chose to say but going to decline. To support the US economy it needs young people to immigrate so that the baby boomers like himself can keep getting their social security checks in mail. So his argument is not persuasive enough to people who know better. But the problem is most people who don't know enough about immigration or economy can easily be brainwashed to become anti-immigration with this kind of pseudologic hogwash.
