Missed their chance when Apple didn't approve the improved Google maps app the first time it was available. Now it has improved even more while Maps.app has done nothing, and I'm sure Google has withdrawn the app now that they are doing their own phone OS.
Come on Apple - give us a nice surprise.
What you seem to be referring to is Google Voice. Google never developed turn-by-turn directions for iOS, and I don't think they plan to develop it. Google Maps gives Android a big competitive advantage, so I don't think Google is every going to port it over to iOS.
Apple bought out Placebase and a couple of other mapping companies. It's time Apple put them to use and get away from as many of Google's services/apps as possible.

You're right. Ideally they wouldn't need my info. In the grand scheme of things, I personally trust Apple more than I trust most other companies. I also expect to have a continuing long-term relationship with them, that includes person-to-person services in addition to sale of products. I also prefer to have a single point-of-contact I can use to sever any relationships I don't want to continue.
So for me it comes down to "who do you trust?" Apple has, historically, been very good about not subscribing me to mailings I don't want. They also never have sold my info (I know this because I use a different email address in a domain I own for every on-line business I do business with. From this I know who, exactly, sells my info. I just look at who my spam is addressed to).
There are quite a number of companies I trust in addition to Apple (a lot of local ones). I cannot remember to ever having received spam from Google (not that I trust them in everything but in this regard they have been good).

Coconut Battery says it has a full charge (5020 or something), but the battery only lasts around 3-4 hours. Is this typical? It's got around 950 cycles.

Why does it take a media storm for Apple to open up on an issue ? It would be so much better if they more forthcoming and frank befoe an issue snowballs.
As they said, it has been a week. It is not really there fault that the media instantly makes a storm out of every Apple issue.
if they are not tracking people then why have the feature? maybe the information is for someone else??... who knows but one thing is for sure its an invasion of privacy..... even if I do stay home all day and night.

I have the same minute plan, with the unlimited data plan, and a FAN - I had no trouble switching the messaging option over this morning.
Yeah, they still haven't gotten back to me. No idea what could be so hard about applying this to my account. I'll call them back in about a hour if I don't hear anything.

Stop whining and crying and throwing a fit and be a grown up and deal with the contract you signed. Don't like it pay the ETF and go else where.

First opening of Flipboard after the recent update to the app displays an iOS popup "Warning. Your iPad appears to be jailbroken. This may cause bugs, crashes or other unpredictable behavior."
I just thought that was interesting as I've never seen such a message before or even knew that an app could detect a jailbreak. What's to keep apple from detecting this with one of their apps and voiding my warranty?

Further evidence that new hardware will not be released this summer. Why go through the trouble of firing up production of this phone just to shut it down in a month if not less than a month to start production of a new phone?
