I don't have any documents/reciepts related to I-140.
Recently my company attorney told my I-140 is approved. However he is not ready to provide any further details.

The moral is GC comes to those who are lucky and apply for it. Its not true that always the best and brightest will only get GC. If the person is technically good or has good apptitue the best he can do is hang on to his job for years and also pray that his company doesn't go bankrupt (there is not fault of this bright employee :D in this case). Dilip was talking about some flush, this flush will wash all the bad apples and also some good apples.. good people also leave after getting frustrated with immigration system (of this developed nation, which doesn't keep track of its visa numbers, moves dates forward backwards by two years :D big joke They can't even predict visa dates. ) Instead of coming up with bill for fixing the credit market and financial system, he(Grassley) should concentrate more on strict reforms and more regulation for financial system, the root cause of recession instead of beating around the bush with immigration system.. He is trying to use the emotion of the local people.. those who have GC fall for such policies because they know they are ahead in the queue and more jobs will be available to them if few IT works immigrate (There are lot of jobs for citizens and GC only). I wished alteast the ones who have suffered throughout this GC journey will understand the pain of other people. Getting a GC should not change the attitude completely.

I think you guys are missing the plot here. Let me reiterate loud and clear. I am NOT against immigrants getting GC. I will not, even in my wildest dreams, claim that the recession is due to the H1Bs and L1s. That is complete baloney spread around by the anti immigrant lobby. My point is let the deserving the GCs soon and not go thru the mindless wait I went thru.
Having said that I am for the following :
1. If the outsourcing companies would pay on an avg at 80K per head for the "well qualified" people, I am even ok with their dumping their dumping the L1s here. Why is it that you guys are ok with the L1s being dumped at 40K-60K salaries ? Shuldn't they get paid high too ? This is what I am arguing for. If the outsourcing cos dont want to pay this rate, then keep them in the country of origin. No need to depress wages here. Is this a wrong thing to ask ?
2. Grassley's bill may force some companies to move entirely to India or China. Isnt that good for India and China ? Why are the pro immigrants against this ? Some times I get the feeling as to who actually is pro and who is anti immigrant !!!! In adition, it may eliminate the many backlogs and help the deserving people here.
3. People who have made a conscious decision to immigrate here have done so considering the standard of living as one of the primary factors in their decisions. In order to enjoy this standard of living, people have to constantly upgrade skillsets to remain competitive in an industry or move to another industry where mass interest is relatively low. Why should these people's lives, after all the travails, be impacted by the low wage scum outsourcing companies. Please remember these companies, like an other company on earth, operate only on self interest. No point in supporting such companies which in adition to the self interest principle also flout rules with abandon.
4. In my opinion, self interest has alwyas resulted in the greater good of society. Do not confuse self interest with greed. Greed is what caused this financial mess. If people/companies operated with concern for greater societal good, they would have spent billions in concocting an AIDS vaccine for the children in Africa than to spend the same billions in concocting VIAGRA for the rich old men. Since employment based immigration debate involves companies' interests too, we have to balance societal good with some impact for the companies. My suggestion here is that let the outsourcers take the hit. They have always benefitted by flouting the rules. If your concern is way too high for your L1 brothers then you would find it prudent to bring in the law that clearly states "Pay high wages for the L1s or dont bring them in here". I dont understand what is wrong here ? Is it that I didnt convey my message across right or is it that people blindly support immigration ?

I don't know how much to trust these sources. I am very nervous though.

But rememeber that in 2005 dates were current and thousands of applications got filed.Most of the applications were pre-adjusted and just need number to be assigned.So in July, there is possibility that many applications can get approved and they can get approved fast !!
I am in the same boat as everyone else. Just wanted to share my worries.

I heard that if you apply on your own and move out of US, it becomes very difficult to let the Can immigration authority about your current location and keep track of all the correspondence with them. But, the agency/lawyer does this thing very efficiantly. Any opinion on this ?

actaccord: I also want to see civilized discussion. But that is not possible with people like PlainSpeak/GCPerm. I know this person. He has always tried to create Eb2/Eb3 divide. I have a few questions of guru's on this forum.
What made USCIS change the rules of spill over from EB3 to EB2. We all know that rules changed in 2007 but I am not sure what prompted USCIS to make the change was it AILA or IV or just internal USCIS review?
The reason I ask this question is when I was looking at the EB3 thread there were lots of people especially with PD between 2001 & 2004 who feel they can start a campaign to revert this spill over decision to pre 2007 criteria. I am neither opposing them nor supporting them but I want to understand the reasons the changes were made.
At this moment I feel their appeal is more at emotional level rather than having a sound resoning. Its like we are waiting since 8 years so please assign us these spillover numbers. But I do not feel that will cut ice with CIS. We need to work for visa recapture but till this spilover thing is put to rest no one will concentrate on recapture

The pending perm applications are the missing piece of information to predict the visa bulletin. Is it possible to get this information from the perm database. I though the perm database was for the approved perm cases. I am sure there is some database (maybe the perm database itself) where we can figure out the pending perm cases. I will search for it, guys please all look into it aswell.

This is what I was also proposing in another thread. we should ask for an administrative fix where once the application is pre adjudicated the applicant should be left alone and not issed any Employment verification letter rfe, or semilar\same job restrictions if they are back logged because of country quota and face multiple year wait, this way atleast it will give people some breating space, the way the system if set up right now, EAD, 485 pre adjudication, I140 approval are all useless if you keep getting Employment verification letter rfe and same semilar job rquirement. Without visa recapure it is going to take atleast 10 years for Eb3 and Eb2 india, in the next 10 years you will keep getting Employement verifivation letter rfe and semilar and same job requirement, there is no way anybody can survive that for 10 yeears. Administrative fix like this can happen without passing a law, for example USCIS started issuing 2 year EAD for retrogressed applicants as an administrative fix. We dont even need a interim green card we can continue on EAD with the administrative fix to exempt cases which have been preadjucated (485) from Employment verification letter RFE and same and semilar job requirement.
I just used t he term Interim GC to convey the idea, it could be named anything. EAD is a also a partial GC, it gives you rights of a GC holder pending administrative processing of your application - to work with any employer. The interim GC may provide all rights of a GC holder, awaiting final count in the legal register (due to legal need of numeric limitations) and the final card, just like a temporary driver license you get immediately after the road test. The idea is that once this stage is passed, no further questions on employment, etc. should be asked.

I am a simple person who does my job and helps people when i can and yes like every human i have ideas and hopes. And what single agenda and organization are you talking about as far as i am comcerned there is only one organzation for EB Retrogression relief and that is IV
All my other posts are genuine and they have been written because in some cases i genuenly fell the need to speak up seeing how you guys shoot down anything rElated to EB3 without seing the merits and pros and cons of it and in some cases i felt i could share info with someone who was looking for some answers whcih should have been answered by you guys but all of you were busy abusing my other posts. Actually i takethat back there were some other people from iV who repliesd back so sorry about that.
Why is it so hard to understand that this is a genuine person with a genuine query not some anti imigrant or competitor to IV. You guys are like the CID in Mash 4077 (google that if you want calrification) who see enemies of the country everywhere and are paraniod about everyone.
There already exists an very small, unsuccesful org for just EB3 that core is aware of, and they consider IV as their competitors because
1. They do not understand and know nothing of how IV works (just like plainspeak)
2. They want to get donations and members away from IV and make money
These statements give her away. This is what they do try to pressurize IV to do their agenda. Enough said. Ignore the sales agent. They are trying to incite a fight between EB2 and EB3 just to split IV.

I am a simple person who does my job and helps people when i can and yes like every human i have ideas and hopes. Now when i get an idea about an invention i would go to the patents forum and when i get and idea about say investing i would go to an investing forum. Now when i got an idea related to immigration i have come to the forum which stands like a beacon for all immigration community or are you incapable of recognising the fact that that IV (and that means all you guys in in) is big hugh and was doing the right thing when no one else was.
Even now i do not think what IV is doing is wrong. I have differences with the outcome of their approach becasue i feel that this approach wil be bad for EB3. Out of all the people commenting out here there has been NOT even ONE person who has tried to understand the reason for why i feel EB3 is going to get in bad shape. Not one has tried to understand what i have been trying to say that NO big or small immigration bill will pass anytime soon and this will lead to EB2 retrogration which will be going against the statement which all you people like to say that is that EB2wil become current and EB3 will get better later so do not rock the boat

And yes i am sure there are many such organizations which may have been started as competition toIV and are not succesfull. Now if i was a fool i would go down the same path but i am not and i have realized that IV is the only vehcial of change. Now when IV tends to speak of EB retrogression they are sepaking on my behalf and when they are doing something on my behalf and if i feel what ever is being done is being determintal to my GC case am i not supposed to even ask IV.
So let me get this straight you are using my GC case as a reference in your charter and i have no say in what you do with my case. I wish i had a lawyer to back me up on this. Just Kidding!

All i did was start and email thread which had nothing scary, no abuse, no threats only a request for discussion and also and understanding that things may not work out and with all this 3/4th of you guys are running around scared like headless chickens and using abuse and threat.

Well this is just another source or confirmation that EB-1 and EB-2 India is going to become unavailable in the coming months or year.
"In addition, the DOS has indicated that the EB-1 category for individuals born in India or China may backlog or retrogress later this summer, and may do so again in the coming fiscal year. Predictably, prognostications for the EB-2 category for India and China are also quite grim - in the next month or two, the EB-2 category could become unavailable. In particular, USCIS has indicated that it has about 25,000 EB-2 India cases and "significant numbers" of cases for Chinese nationals that have been reviewed and are simply awaiting visa number availability. This category has a typical fiscal-year limit of 2,800, plus any remaining numbers from the EB-1, EB-4 and EB-5 categories."

how does $2000000000 PER YEAR sound (200k * 10k) assume there are 200k who are waiting with little hope of visa movement and we have to return to our countries... every year we provide $2,000,000,000 to SSA and Medicare..some of us are waiting for 10-12 years..that is a bunch of money we are collectively losing. I am sure that number is larger if we analyze the real impact. Effectively we are getting a ~10-12% haircut, followed by a 25-30% 'hajamat' (haircut in my language) in terms of taxes :)
Anti's and lawmaker should know that we are contributing a ton of money...besides paying taxes and spending money..
Lets start writing to authorities about SSA money. This is the best time to ask for it because we are in a recession. They won't be able to make a decision but may remove country quota.
Can we make a letter with all the issues we are facing and mail it to all the authorities.
Can somebody summarise the thread and we look for a action plan. Please do it soon before the fire burns out
